 Welcome!

What if I am a beginner?

Anyone can practice yoga at any age, shape or size. Being flexible is not a prerequisite! We offer several different classes to accommodate your needs. If you are new to yoga, we encourage you to start with our Slow Flow or Deep Stretch classes . If you have practiced in the past, try several different classes to see what fits your personal needs.  Take classes that you can enjoy, while challenging the boundaries of your present limitations. You will find that most of our classes are great for ALL LEVELS and our teachers will guide you to turn it up or down a notch depending on your practice. There may be poses you cannot do, and that is fine. The teacher will be there to help you and/or give you a modification of the posture. Check out our class schedule and click on the class description for more details!

What is yoga?

The practice of yoga originated in India. It has been around for 5 thousand years. Through the physical discipline of movement, meditation, and breath control Yoga provides many physical, mental and spiritual benefits. The literal meaning of the Sanskrit word yoga is to add, join or unite. At Om Yoga, we believe that Yoga is a wonderful way to connect to ourselves, to the present moment, and to each other.

What is Om?

Om is said to be the sound of all creation. It contains all other sounds, all words, all languages and all mantras. Om is the reflection of the absolute reality, it is said to be without beginning or end and it embraces everything that exists. The three letters AUM represent creation, preservation and liberation. Chanting Om elevates our consciousness, unifies the energy in the room, and symbolizes our connection to all that there is.

What do I bring to Class?

Most students like to use their own yoga mat and towel. If you ever forget your mat, towel or water…no worries! We’ve got you covered. We rent yoga mats and yogi toes for $2.00, Hand towels for $1.00. We also sell water bottles, mats and other yoga accessories.

What should I wear?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable. It’s best to wear clothing that does not limit movement, or cut circulation. You may be upside down in certain yoga poses so very loose clothing is not recommended. Shoes and socks are not needed.
