In 2009, Tammy took her first yoga class, beginning a life-changing journey. She frequented the gym daily and was an avid walker; however, after her very first yoga class, she never lifted another weight. She replaced her previous work-out routine with a dedicated yoga practice. She still enjoys taking daily walks to experience the world and its beauty. Each day, Tammy looks forward to sharing yoga with others.
April has been practicing Yoga for over 15 years. She has studied with many amazing teachers such as Laruga Glaser, John Bultman, Tim Miller, Michael Gannon, and Baron Baptiste to name a few. As a result, April brings to Om over 800 hours of Yoga education and training. Her classes are full of charisma, laughter and community, as well as many opportunities to take your practice to the next level. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned practitioner you will leave her classes with a greater understanding of postures and alignment. Not to mention some yummy assists! April is a survivor of Sepsis, a life threatening complication of an infection in which the body begins to shut down to protect itself. 28-50% of people with Sepsis die annually. Those who survive often have organ damage, PTSD, and/or loss of limbs. She is grateful for her recovery and strives to share with her students the importance of gratitude for even the smallest of things. She holds a BA in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and has been married to her husband John for 20 years.
Amanda is a Fort Mill native who found her love of yoga in 2012 right here at Om Yoga. In May 2018 she will complete her 200-hour training through Enlighten Yoga in Charlotte, NC and is excited to bring the joy and peace of the yoga lifestyle to the community around her. Amanda says, “This is the one exercise that affects me physically, mentally and even spiritually. I love that I can show up on my mat and some days I may feel like a rock star and others I just need to keep coming back to child's pose. I'm a very competitive person but in my yoga practice I am not. I value that we're all different, at different stages of our lives or fitness levels, and we're just built differently. So my mat is very personal to me and I love how each person has their own way of carrying out the shape of the poses.” Amanda credits her prenatal yoga classes to the reason why she wanted to do more and more yoga. It helped her body the most when it was going through massive changes and the breathing really helped during labor. Amanda and her husband have a beautiful daughter named Madeline and are expecting their second baby girl in August!
