What if I am a beginner?

Anyone can practice yoga. Being flexible is not a prerequisite! We offer several different classes to accmodate your needs. If you are new to yoga, we encourage you to start with our Gentle, Slow Flow, Flow to Stretch and Deep Stretch classes. If you have practiced in the past, try several different classes to see what fits your personal needs. Take classes that you enjoy, while challenging the boundaries of your present limitations. You will find that most of our classes are great for ALL LEVELS and our teachers will guide you to turn it up or down a notch depending on your practice. There may be poses you cannot do, and that is fine. The teacher will be there to help you give modifications of the postures. Check out our class schedule or click on Class Types for more details!

What is yoga?

The literal meaning of the Sanskrit word "yoga" is to add, join or unite. At Yoga, we believe that yoga is a wonderful way to connect to ourselves, to the present mment, and to each other! Through the physical discipline of movement, meditation, and breath control, yoga provides many physical, mental and spiritual benefits. It is a complete mind-body practice.

What do I bring to class?

A yoga mat and a mat towel or hand towel and water if you like. If you ever forget your mat, towel or water…no worries! We’ve got you covered. We rent yoga mats and towels and sell bottled water. We also have cubbies to store anything else you may bring in with you.

Do I need to sign up for classes online?

We do not require reservations but we recommend signing up for classes and workshops online to save time at the front desk during check in, and to guarantee a spot in class. In order to make reservations online you must have classes in your account. You can create an account online or at the studio on your first visit.

Do you provide hands-on assists?

We do provide hands-on assists during class. An assist can help your alignment in a yoga pose but it doesn't mean that you are doing it wrong. You may get an assist to help you go a little deeper than you can go on your own, to stabilize you in a pose, or to make the pose easier by taking some of the weight off of you. If you do not want to be assisted please let your instructor know. We totally respect your space.

What should I wear to class?

It’s best to wear clothing that does not limit movement or cut off circulation. You may be upside down in certain yoga poses so very loose clothing is not recommended. Shoes and socks are not needed.

What is Om?

Om is said to be the sound of all creation. It contains all other sounds, all words, all languages and all mantras. Om is said to be without beginning or end and it embraces everything that exists. The three letters AUM represent creation, preservation and liberation. Chanting Om elevates our consciousness, unifies the energy in the room, and symbolizes our connection to all that there is.

What is your mission statement?

We are a community of yoga teachers and students who are passionate about sharing the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment for you to move, breathe, connect, and learn more about yoga. We are consciously growing, evolving, and we want to inspire everyone who is a part of this community to incorporate and convey yogic values such as compassion, mindfulness, integrity, and purpose.

Anything else I should know?

Some other etiquette and guidelines:

  • Please arrive a few minutes early to set up.
  • Silence your phone and leave it in your cubby with your other belongings.
  • Introduce yourself to the teacher if you are new and let them know if you have an injury, if you are pregnant, or have any specific needs.
  • If you are late, wait until you see students moving before you walk into the room and get settled. Many of our classes start with a brief meditation, setting an intention, or a moment of silence and reflection. We would rather have you there late than not all but it's important to be respectful of others and not interrupt this portion of the class. Our front door does lock 10 minutes after class begins.
  • We recommend not eating or drinking too much before your class
  • We have 2 bathrooms and 1 shower should you need to use it.
